چکیده

The objective of the paper is discussion of various methods of modelling microstructure evolution during hot forming of steels. Commonly used conventional models based on closed form equations are compared with novel approaches based on artificial neural networks (ANN) and on multiscale models. Predictive capabilities of various models are discussed. Basic principles of the ANN and multiscale models developed by the Authors, as well as results regarding digital representation of materials and modelling of recrystallization, are described in the paper. Comparison of numerical results with the experiment is presented.

Dual–Phase Hot–Press Forming Alloy

Hot–press forming steels are formed in a fully austenitic state followed by die– quenching in order to generate martensite and achieve a strong steel. The ductility however, tends to be limited. We explore in this work a novel steel design in which the forming operation is in the two–phase austenite and ferrite field, so that the quenching results in a dual–phase ferrite and martensite microstr...

Influence of Initial Microstructure on Hot Deformation Behavior of Duplex Stainless Steels

In this research the effect of initial microstructure on hot deformation behavior in terms of Ferrite-to-Austenite ratios is studied. Two types of stainless steels C1 and C2 were homogenizing heat-treated and deformed under hot compression examinations at temperatures 900ºC and 1100ºC at strain rate of 0.1s-1. The results showed that the flow stress levels of specimens are strongly r...

PREDICTION OF STATIC SOFTENING OF MICROALLOYED STEEL BY THE INTEGRATION OF FINITE ELEMENT MODEL WITH PHYSICALLY BASED STATE VARIABLE MODEL

Abstract   Recovery and recrystallization phenomena and effects of microalloying elements on these phenomena are of great importance in designing thermomechanical processes of microalloyed steels. Thus, understanding and modeling of microstructure evolution during hot deformation leads to optimize the processing conditions and to improve the product properties.   In this study, finite element...

Study on the Microstructure of Hot Deformed Cu-28Zn Prealloyed Powder Compacts

The role of microstructure on hot deformation behavior of sintered Cu-28Zn prealloyed powder compacts was investigated by a series of isothermal hot compression tests in the temperature range of 550- 850°C at strain rates of 0.001, 0.01, 0.1 and 0.5 s-1, by taking into consideration the Hyperbolic Sine functional behavior to analyze the deformation behavior of the alloy. The results indicate th...

Setting Mechanical Properties of High Strength Steels for Rapid Hot Forming Processes

Hot stamping of sheet metal is an established method for the manufacturing of light weight products with tailored properties. However, the generally-applied continuous roller furnace manifests two crucial disadvantages: the overall process time is long and a local setting of mechanical properties is only feasible through special cooling techniques. Hot forming with rapid heating directly before...
